Website redesign for the Adirondack Experience—the Museum on Blue Mountain Lake

The goal for the new Adirondack Experience Museum website was to combine digital-oriented content implemented in 2020 when the museum remained closed to the public due to the Caronavirous, while also promoting in-person museum attendance for the upcoming 2021 summer season.

Along with creating this hybrid of a website to serve as a marketing tool and educational resource, the museum wanted to increase user engagement and refresh and modernize the design with captivating full-width images, larger clearly legible typography, and effectual page layouts that were tailored to the content but flexible and modular enough to accommodate the website growing and changing with the season.

I worked closely with the museum's marketing team to comb through the existing site's content to create a sitemap to reorganize the page navigation in a more logical and user-friendly hierarchy. Working alongside a skilled WordPress developer, we added advanced functionality including the implementation of an automated web accessibility solution to ensure ADA compliance. We selected and customized an event management plugin to organize and streamline the process of promoting and managing the various types of events held throughout the season.

Overall, the newly launched site improved user session duration by roughly 40% compared to 2019, and by over 25% compared to 2020, the year the museum expanded to online content in response to COVID-19.
