Website Redesign for the Adirondack Experience – The Museum on Blue Mountain Lake

The Adirondack Experience Museum sought a website redesign that would seamlessly integrate the digital content introduced in 2020—when the museum remained closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic—while also driving in-person attendance for the 2021 summer season.

The new website needed to function as both a marketing tool and an educational resource, enhancing user engagement while modernizing the design. To achieve this, we incorporated full-width imagery, larger, highly legible typography, and flexible, modular page layouts tailored to diverse content needs while allowing for seasonal updates and expansion.

I collaborated closely with the museum’s marketing team to audit and restructure the existing site’s content, developing a more intuitive sitemap and user-friendly navigation hierarchy. Partnering with a skilled WordPress developer, we implemented key functionality upgrades, including an automated web accessibility solution to ensure ADA compliance. Additionally, we customized an event management plugin to streamline the promotion and organization of the museum’s diverse programming.

Following the launch, the redesigned website significantly improved user engagement, with session duration increasing by approximately 40% compared to 2019 and over 25% compared to 2020, the year the museum expanded its digital offerings.
